Have you ever heard of jelly bean art? Well it exists. And now so does a jelly bean music video. YouTube star Kina Grannis wrote a song called “In Your Arms” and developed a music video with director Greg Jardin involving 288,000 jelly beans. The insanely impressive stop-motion video, which includes a total of 2,460 individual frames, took 22 months (1,357 hours) to complete. Sure the song is catchy and Grannis has an infectious charm about her, but it’s the sheer level of dedication put into this music video that has elevated to viral status. In under a week it has amassed about 1.5 million well deserved views. After you wipe the saliva off your mouth when the video ends (and that’s either because you’re so impressed or you’re craving Jelly Belly jelly beans, or both) make sure you jump after the break to watch a seven minute making-of video that shows just how much hard work and patience was required to make the music video a reality. With “In Your Arms” Grannis has proved she’s a creative force to be reckoned with, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. YouTube musical sensation Karmin release first official single “Crash Your Party”
The infectious musical duo known as Karmen–comprised of vocalist Amy and keyboardist Nick–just released their first official single called “Crash Your Party.” Amy and Nick are best known for their unique covers of popular songs they upload to their YouTube channel. Shortly have they posted the amazing cover of Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” earlier this year, they exploded overnight. The video went viral and some time later they signed with Epic Records. Check out their first single in the video above to get a taste of some Karmin originality. The duo describes their music as “hip-pop” and this song, in my humble opinion, manages to fuse together elements from both genres in a fun (and downright catchy) way. Don’t act so surprised when you hear this track on the radio; Karmin has to potential to explode yet again…this time on a more mainstream scale. Expect their debut album to release in 2012.
Nick Pitera does Disney medley
You know Nick Pitera; he’s the YouTube star famously known for singing both the male and female parts from Aladdin‘s “A Whole New World.” (That video, by the way, currently has a whopping 22.8 million views.) His latest video he calls a “One Man Disney Movie” and it includes him once again seamlessly switching between the male and female vocals. Its a medley of Disney songs ranging from classics like Beauty and the Beast and more recent tales like Enchanted. What’s cool is that Pitera has split the screen into six squares each representing a different role (Heroine, Sidekick, Chorus, etc.) and we get to watch them all at the same time. Sit back and enjoy the nearly nine minute journey through Disney music as told by the man with a magnificently odd voice.
