Documentary teaser: “Turning Into Gods”

From the inquisitive mind of filmmaker Jason Silva comes Turning Into Gods, “a new feature length documentary exploring mankind’s journey to ‘play jazz with the universe’… it is a story of our ultimate potential, the reach of our intelligence, the scope of our scientific and engineering abilities and the transcendent quality of our heroic and noble calling.”  “Featuring interviews with the world’s most interesting minds, these luminaries will paint for us a picture of the world beyond the looking glass. The world we are creating.”

Sounds interesting, hm?  Silva’s asking the tough questions and one sticks out: What is the meaning of life?  Watch the teaser trailer above to get a taste of what’s to come in this riveting, thought-provoking doc that’s “coming soon.”

Dell Inspiron Duo shows up in official teaser

Ya’ll remember when Dell unveiled the Inspiron Duo back in September at IDF?  You know, it’s the netbook/tablet hybrid that sports an awesome (albiet unconventional) swivel design.  We’ve seen it pose for press shots and star in brief hands-on demonstrations, but there’s nothing like watching it shine in an official teaser video from Dell.  Watch the Duo in convertible action above, then watch it again!  Latest murmurs point to a late 2010 release date.

Robert Knepper to revive ‘Prison Break’ baddie T-Bag in upcoming A&E series ‘Breakout Kings’?!

Well that’s the plan, according to Breakout Kings producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora.  The former Prison Break producers want veteran actor Robert Knepper to play Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell in the their upcoming fugitive-themed drama.  According to various sources, EW’s Michael Ausiello reports that 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Break and Kings has “signed off on the [character] crossover.”  All there’s left to do is get Knepper on board to play the part again.  If my memory serves me right (of course it does!), T-Bag was voted by the Brothers Scofield and Co. in the Prison Break series finale and to be forced to go back to jail.  He’s scum, and that’s where he belonged.

Though both shows revolve around the life of fugitives, Breakout Kings has a slightly altered plotline.  It’s being described as “a new action-packed ensemble drama following an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives on the run.”  I really hope Knepper bites the bait (former Prison Break producers are at the helm) and signs on to revive T-Bag for the new series.  T-Bag is a dark, flawed character with quick wits and a totally creepy attitude.  He’s definitely one of the best written villains in recent TV history, so to watch his character make a comeback would be beyond awesome.  Originially produced for FOX, the A&E series will premiere in 2011; 13 one hour episodes have been ordered.  Look after the break for the first teaser trailer.

New Droid X trailer captivates sci-fi lovers

The “See You Tomorrow” teaser trailer–erm, commercial–is making its rounds on the ‘Net and TV.  It promotes Verizon’s latest smartphone from Motorola, the Droid X.  The 8-megapixel packin’ 4.3-inch beast of a phone is now shipping for Verizon Wireless customers; $199.99 with a new two-year contract.

Rock Band 3 teases keytar peripheral

Those of you who downloaded the Green Day: Rock Band demo from Xbox Live Marketplace (which includes the two tracks “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” & “Welcome to Paradise”) were treated to a teaser banner when exiting the demo for Rock Band 3.  Along with the usual suspects (guitar, drums, bass, and mic) sits an entirely new instrument, a keytar!  At first glance gamers interpreted the new icon to represent the addition of a keyboard peripheral for the new Rock Band game, but ArsTechnica claims their “now-famous Mole” has reliable information that the new instrument is in fact a keytar.  For those of you who are not familar with the instrument, a keytar essentially combines a guitar and keyboard into one, and it’s very ’80s.  Look after the break for a sexy image of said instrument.

Along with this tease comes more news surrounding the upcoming music game.  While the first two iterations of Rock Band were sold with instruments created by developer Harmonix, all peripherals for Rock Band 3 will be created and distributed by third-party game accessory company Mad Catz.  Mad Catz will promote a myriad of bundles including guitars, drums, and mics.  Information regarding the keytar will likely be detailed next month at E3.

And there’s one more morsel of news that comes from this same source.  Rock Band 3 will feature a new “pro mode” “that will require proper technique, and may lead to actual skills on guitars and bass.”  Again, expect more details about the game to be exposed at E3 in mid-June.

Teaser trailer: James Cameron’s Avatar

A teaser trailer for the highly anticipated CG/live action film Avatar has been released.  Although I am looking totally forward to this movie, I am disappointed in the teaser trailer.  It did not reveal any plot line whatsoever, and more importantly it did not pique my interest.  Director James Cameron (Titanic) is looking to shift the way films are made by introducing 3D to mainstream cinema in a way it has never been experienced before.  After the 2D teaser trailer was released, eager fans of the upcoming film got the chance to watch 15 minutes of 3D footage at their local theatres.  Initial reactions were not so good.  Moviegoers do not seem to be convinced that Avatar will revolutionize film-making like Cameron believes it has the chance of accomplishing.  However, I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that the final product turns out to be a success.  It definitely has stiff competition now with a CG/live action film like District 9 blowing me away in standard 2D.  Avatar comes out on December 18.

Iron Man goes anime, looks amazing

Marvel superhero Iron Man has gone anime.  With the popularity of Iron Man skyrocketing in the US (thanks to Mr. Robert Downey Jr. sucking the life back into the character in Iron Man), it looks like the Japanese market is looking to ride on the coattails of its recent success.  Animation company Madhouse will be bringing this Iron Man anime show to a Japanese TV network.  Sit back, relax, and enjoy this very cool teaser trailer for it, and keep your fingers crossed in hopes that it will make its way to the U.S. one day.

Lost Season 6 teaser poster

This promotional poster was shown at this year’s Comic Con during the Lost panel.  What is interesting about this image is that it includes ALL of the major characters from Lost, including some that we have not seen since Season 1.  More interesting is the image of character John Locke, whose back is faced outward (hinting at the repercussions from the recent season finale).  One thing is certain: Lost: The Final Season is going to be awesome!  I cannot wait.
