If you watch The Following on FOX, this is a real treat. To further promote the show, series executive producer and oft-director Marcos Siega put together this eight minute parody video starring Kevin Bacon as himself. Thing is, he acts just like his Following character Ryan Hardy and thinks serial killers–Joe Carroll included–are after him in real life. Co-starring is Dean Winters (currently on CBS’ Battle Creek, but you probably know him from those Allstate commercials), Joe Carroll himself James Purefoy, Michael C. Hall (Dexter, how appropriate), Sam Underwood (he plays the evil twins Mark & Luke Grey on The Following), and Bacon’s real-life wife Kyra Sedgwick makes a memorable cameo. It’s bizarre and fantastic all at the same time. With that and nothing more, enjoy.
If you watch the Presidential debate this week, you will find this spoof to be absolutely hilarious. A day after the debate, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon debuted this sketch which stars Fallon as Mitt Romney, an Obama impersonator, and Late Night head writer A.D. Miles as frustrated moderator Jim Lehrer. Lehrer had a difficult time keeping the candidates on the same subject and time contraints made matters worse. In this spot-on spoof, Romney and Obama team up and tell Lehrer to “shut the f**k up.” Enjoy.
If you’ve been following the last in pop culture news, then you should be aware that a 20-year-old California woman filed a paternity suit against teen idol Justin Bieber. Biebs is denying it of course, but that doesn’t mean late night host and Bieber impersonator Jimmy Fallon can’t play around with the hit single “Baby” and intelligently turn it into “(It’s Not My) Baby” noooo! Jimmy hits all the right notes and Roots rapper Black Thought plays a convincing Ludacris feature in the spoof embedded above.
“G,” a spoof of the television show Glee and Journey’s song, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” To prepare for G-gionals, the G Club members sing a song about the letter “G” and the two sounds it makes. Sesame Street’s 42nd season begins September 26th, 2011.
“I’m on a Mac” by The Pantless Knights is all about switchin’ to Mac and never going back. Catch “I’m on a Phone” by The Misunderstoods after the break.

$726,612,776 (worldwide) in its first twelve days of release
$39 million from 249 IMAX screens in just 10 days
#3 spot in the Box Office Mojo chart of the biggest Tuesday box-office earnings ever
Total gross: Domestic: $268,886,074 (36.1%) + Foreign: $476,192,825 (63.9%) = Worldwide: $745,078,899 (as of today, 12/31)
The Hot Blog speculates that “there is a very real chance that the film will break $1 billion worldwide before it’s fourth weekend starts. If not, it seems pretty sure to happen in that fourth weekend.”
Sounds like Cameron and crew will make bank off this massively successful movie. And do they deserve it. Avatar was in many aspects an experimental film for James Cameron and he took a big risk in making it. (It cost around $500 million to make.) It all paid off, so to speak; critics praised it, movie-goers flocked to it, and the 3D and IMAX integration successfully added to the immersive experience. Job well done all around.
Update:Avatar hits $1 billion in seventeen days, reaching that milestone faster than any other movie in history. Right now it remains the third largest grossing movie, behind Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Cameron’s other hit Titanic.
Then there’s this: “Free Love Forum takes you behind the scenes of the revolutionary new bootleg of the revolutionary new movie.” Please sit back and enjoy this comedy mockumentary of “Avatar: The Bootleg.”
