Music video: Coldplay – “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin stars in this fast-paced, colorful and vibrant music video for their new single “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.” The stop-motion technique is used wonderfully here.

More like, every teardrop is a waterfall… of paint!

In related Coldplay news, the band just released a 3-track EP that shares the same name as the single. Get it here.

Music video: David Guetta – “Where Them Girls At” (Featuring Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida)

French DJ David Guetta has put together a music video that is equally as infectious as the song it encapsulates. In “Where Them Girls At” he generates sound bubbles from soap, water, and beatz. Then he sends them off into the beautiful city that is LA. The closer a sound cloud gets to you, the louder it becomes. If it pops and sprays on you, suddenly you turn into a dance machine. Guest artists Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj show up for the ride. In Nicki’s case, and a giant bubble approaches her and she swallows it; the rap goddess explodes in rhyme and burps tiny bubbles while she’s at it!

Guetta’s fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat is due out August 29.

Bloodthirsty kids deal fake drugs in this spectacularly animated music video

You may not have heard of London-based pop group Is Tropical, but I guarantee you will get a kick out of their music video for their latest single “The Greeks.” Directed by Megaforce (the man behind the trippy Cudder clip “Pursuit of Happiness“), the video follows a bunch of bloodthirsty kids who indulge themselves in murdering each other in the most spectacularly disturbing of ways. The cartoonish animation is provided by Seven and it helps spin the rather graphic nature of the music video into an enjoyable visual feast.

The band describes the video like this: “Part Rumblefish, part Die Hard, part Akira, we wanted to work together to create something both visually appealing and aesthetically relevant to the band. We like kids, we like gangs, we really like daydreaming and imagination; the video straddles the line between nostalgia and the visual death-porn of our generation – the action film. Don’t get carried away by politics – this is a straight-up kid brawl the way it played out in your head when you were stealing your mums mascara to be like Arnie in Predator. It isn’t a shocking rebuke to our drama queen, populist news culture either – just naive, blissful shoot-yr-mate until he’s definitely dead war-games – the way you wish it still could be.”

Sure the video is great and all, but do you also like what you hear? The single “The Greeks” is available to download for free right here, and Is Tropical’s debut album Is Native is out now in the UK.

Music video: Katy Perry – “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”

Katy Perry lets her nerdtastic alter ego Kathy Beth Terry loose in this new music video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”. The clip includes a couple of Gleeks (Darren Criss, Kevin McHale), 90s pop band Hanson, sax player Kenny G, Debbie Gibson and Corey Feldman play Kathy’s parents, and then there’s Rebecca Black (obviously). Like most of Katy Perry’s singles this one’s catchy, so beware. Now watch the star-studded video above!

Shakira is super sexy in new “Rabiosa” video

We all know Shakira’s hips don’t lie. In her new music video for the Spanish cut “Rabiosa” off her latest record Sale el Sol Shakira pumps up the sexiness to a whole ‘nother level. It doesn’t matter that you likely won’t understand a word of this song. The video is memorizing for obvious reasons (spoiler alert: there’s pole dancing). Whether she’s donning a short brunette wig or her long locks of blonde hair, Shakira knows how to get you all bothered and hot. Go on, enjoy.

Music video: Kanye West – “Monster” (Featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z & Nicki Minaj)

Monster. Kanye West released the track as part of his G.O.O.D. Friday free-song-of-the-week extravaganza in August 2010. It ended up being part of ‘Ye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In December a preview for the music video leaked onto the ‘Net, and then a lengthier unfinished product surfaced. Last Sunday, finally, the completed “Monster” music video released to much fanfare.

The controversial, spooky video features Kanye West rapping among beautiful, dead models. The clip is very graphic–dead women hang like chandeliers from the ceiling, West poses the lifeless models in bed with him, and at one point he’s holding a decapitated head by brown strands of hair. This disclaimer lingers at the start of the video, so make no mistake: “The following content is in no way to be interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any groups of people. It is an art piece and should be taken as such.”

A chainsaw wielding Rick Ross and dapper Jay-Z join West in the gory affair. But just like she did in the track itself, Nicki Minaj steals the show here as she faces off against her pink alter-ego Barbie. Watch it all unfold in the video above.

Playing For Change is back

By filming and recording dozens of musicians from around the world, filmmaker, producer and PFC founder, Mark Johnson captures stunning musical collaborations that seamlessly blend diverse styles of music into powerful performances, expanding on the journey that made Playing For Change one of 2009’s most unusual cultural phenomenons.

And that it was. The culturally-infused rendition of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” still remains one of my favorites music videos of all time. And this version of “Gimme Shelter” is next in line. As you may already know, “Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.” Support the cause and purchase the brand new PFC collection. Playing For Change 2: Songs Around the World contains 10 tracks consisting of covers and original songs plus 10 music videos. And if you still haven’t introduced yourself to this phenomenal worldly mix, make sure to check out the original collection too.

Music video: Kid Cudi – “Marijuana”

This latest video from the lonely stoner is a cut off his sophomore record Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. “Marijuana” was directed, shot and edited by Transformers star Shia LaBeouf and produced by Lorenzo Eduardo. Tour Amsterdam with Cudi and his crew in the video floating above. And remember kids, despite how cool Cudder makes it all look, smoking is bad for you.

Update: Cudi updated his fans concerning the “MANIAC” short film. On his Tumblr he shared, “MANIAC is a short film inspired by the song. It is not a music video and it has no reference to the song content. It will be scored by Dot and I as a film with all new music. Directed By Shia LaBeouf for Grassy Slope and Ragin4Dayz Productions.” A short teaser is embedded after the break; expect the short to hit the ‘Net this Halloween.
