Matthew Morrison teams up with ‘Glee’ guest Gwyneth Paltrow for his debut album
Will Schuester and Holly Holliday are going to bring their Gleeful chemistry to Matt Morrison’s upcoming debut album. They will perform a duet covering the classic Judy Garland song “Over the Rainbow.” Gleeks know that Morrison as Mr. Shue performed this song with Mark Salling (Puck) in the season one finale. He also happened to use this song when he auditioned for the show. “People kind of know me for that song now,” says Morrison. “I wanted to do a duet with a female. I thought that was a good song to do, and we really did a different arrangement of it. It’s a lot of strings, and it’s beautiful.”
Morrison’s self-titled album drops May 10. Get a taste of what to expect by listening to the lead single “Summer Rain.”

Single: Matthew Morrison – “Summer Rain”
Shortly after teasing his upcoming debut solo album, Glee star Matthew Morrison finally made it official by appearing on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and playing the record’s lead single “Summer Rain.” You don’t have to over analyze the song’s lyrics to understand that it’s all about having sex on a rooftop in the rain. “Who needs lovers’ lane? Right up on this rooftop, let’s make love in the summer rain,” croons Morrison whose unique but conventional voice might just give him an edge when the album drops later this year.

Matthew Morrison’s debut solo album is almost here! To ramp up anticipation, the Glee star has put together a brief behind-the-scenes look into the record’s creation. He admits that his original intention was to gear the album towards the Glee crowd (think: pop music), but after time he made the decision not to make another Glee album and instead write more personal songs. Elton John hints at collaboration with Matthew Morrison
Earlier this year Glee star Matthew Morrison revealed plans to produce a debut album with Mercury Records. The album, which he promises will pack lots of “substance” and draw inspiration from Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis, Jr, will be graced with the talented Elton John. The source of this exciting news? Elton John himself! “I’m supposed to be doing something with Matthew Morrison for his album,” he teased. “[Matthew and I] had a little meeting together, so hopefully that’s going to happen when I get to L.A.” Morrison will surely bring something interesting to the table in a debut album, but with Elton John’s legendary touch this could potentially turn out to be a real hit. The album is expected to release before the year runs out.

Glee’s Matthew Morrison’s upcoming album will have “substance”
Will Shuester–er, Matthew Morrison–is taking it to the next level. He plans on releasing his own album sometime this year with Mercury Records. “What I’m creating has yet to be defined yet but I want it to be something very diverse. For me, music is about creating a mood. The best songs for me are songs that I just lose myself in.” He adds, “I don’t wanna put out a crap CD. I want it to be with substance. I don’t wanna be singing about money or handbags.” Question is, what will it sound like? “I’m drawing my inspiration from like Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. All those people that kind of did it all: film, TV, Broadway. I’m just so influenced by that music.” Sounds good to me. I’m picturing Michael Buble-esque sound with a Matthew Morrison touch that only he can blurt out. If it sounds anything like we’ve heard from him on Glee–but more mature–I think I might be satisfied. We’ll have to wait and see.
