Every Halloween Jimmy Kimmel tells parents to prank their children by telling them that mommy and daddy ate all their candy. You’d think that some kids might catch on to this annual, cruel joke. Some do! But for the most part, the joke lands and it lands hard. Turns out children are wired to completely freak out and cry in sadness and anger when they’re told that all of their Halloween candy is gone. Parents and Jimmy Kimmel Live audiences (myself included!) can’t help but belly-laugh at the mere sight of these ridiculous reactions. It’s schadenfreude at its finest, and it never fails to completely and utterly entertain.
Great Scott, we made it! In Back to the Future Part II, Doc Brown and Marty McFly travel to the future, specifically October 21, 2015. And that day is today! No, we don’t have flying cars, but the Cubs are in the playoffs and Biff is running for president! To celebrate this special occasion, check out this BTTF reunion staged by Jimmy Kimmel. Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox return in character for a fun, 10-minute conversation about the present future they arrive in, via Delorean DMC-12, of course. Then, jump after the break to watch Lloyd as Doc once more in a special announcement hyping the Blu-ray trilogy.
In other BTTF news, Nike has announced a followup to its Nike Mag sneaker. Unlike its predecessor, the 2015 Nike Mag will, in fact, feature power laces that lace themselves, just like they do in the movie. As we near the end of 2015, more details are bound to surface so stick it here for when that happens.
In case you missed this viral gem, veteran actor Dennis Quaid was caught on camera freaking out on a production set and naturally it was uploaded to YouTube for the world to see. In under a week it racked up over 2.1 million views. Why? Because it’s laced with all kinds of absurd obscenity of which the likes we haven’t seen spout from an actor’s lips since Christian Bale’s infamous meltdown. If you haven’t seen the Quaid clip yet, go on and watch it above. (Warning: This is being labeled NSFW due to language.)
After lingering on the Internet for days, murmurs about it being a prank were confirmed today when Funny or Die claimed complete responsibility for the ruse. And instead of simply making an announcement, they released “The Full Video” version of the faux-freak out which can be screened after the break. Turns out all of Quaid’s name-calling was quite literal, including poor old Dopey the Dick.
For the fourth year running, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel challenged parents to pretend they ate all their kids’ halloween candy and uploaded their recorded reactions to YouTube. Here are 2014’s submissions; once again, it’s a riot filled with mad children, disappointed children, and the occasional “I’m okay with it” kids. And in case you missed the gems from years prior, or if you want to relive the magic that is parents taking away from their children the thing they covet most: 2011, 2012, 2013.
With less than a month left to go, the album cover and tracklist for Kid Cudi’s third solo record (fourth overall) has been revealed for all to see. The album art, like Cudder’s past few musicvideos, features a baroque-inspired frame. “The album art represents me. A ball of flames in a rose gold frame,” the rapper tweeted.
Indicud features a total of 18 tracks including singles “Just What I Am,” “King Wizard,” and “Immortal.” And for long-time fans of the once Lonely Stoner, a special track titled “Solo Dolo Part II” featuring rising rapper Kendrick Lamar will increase anticipation for the album’s release tenfold. Other featured artists include Cudi’s close friend King Chip (the artist formally known as Chip Tha Ripper is featured on two tracks), Father John Misty, Too $hort, Haim, RZA, A$AP Rocky, and Michael Bolton. Jump after the break to see the full tracklisting.
Currently Indicud is up for preorder at Amazon and at Kid Cudi’s official online store. His store sells digital and physical copies of the album, as well as the vinyl. On April 23 the hype becomes real.
During his monologue on Halloween night, Jimmy Kimmel issued a fun challenge for parents: to say that they ate all of their children’s Halloween candy, record their reactions, and upload it to YouTube. Kimmel stitched together a bunch of the most entertaining videos and the compilation sits above. It’s funny; almost every clip involves a young child hearing the devastating news and immediately drooping their heads in tears of sadness and frustration. You’ll want to make it to the end because the final clip involving two brothers might just be the best thing I’ve watched in a while. Enjoy!
Coldplay set up shop at UCLA last week and performed a myriad of their hit songs including “Fix You” and “Viva La Vida”, plus a tribute to Amy Winehouse. Among the 90-minute set were also a couple of new tracks from their upcoming fifth studio album: the previously released single “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” and a brand new one, “Charlie Brown.” The new track is a sweeping, atmospheric anthem that only Coldplay could do right. Watch the live performance above, and pop after the break for a bonus video. Continue reading Coldplay performs new song “Charlie Brown” at UCLA concert→
On Sunday, May 23 the series finale of Lost called “The End” will air at 9PM on ABC (following a one hour recap special at 8PM). When it’s over, your local news will air for about half an hour and then at 11:35PM a special edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live will air called Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost. The one hour special will include an analysis of the finale, with appearences by executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and interviews with a number of casts members. Jimmy Kimmel is a huge Lost fan, so you can definitely expect him to bring the goods. I mean, you’re going to need something to do while you’re sobbing all your sorrows away.
Ya’ll remember The Creepy La-La-La Guy? Jimmy Kimmel was somehow able to get (best supporting) actor Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) to reenact that creepster on a whole ‘nother level. Watch the bizzare hilarity unfold in ‘Der Humpink.’
This hilarious segment also aired last night during the Jimmy Kimmel Live After Oscars special. It features a wide range of “handsome” actors including Patrick Dempsey and Matthew McConaughey, with memorable appearences by John Krasinski, Lenny Kravitz, and many others.
Lost: The Finale Season premiere event lived up to the hype and proved to be a mind-bending good time. The premiere captured an average of 12.1 million viewers, and according to EW, this “is 1 million more than the series’ average audience for season 5 and less than 1 million more than the audience for its season 5 premiere. About 6 percent more people tuned in at 9 p.m. than finished the two-hour episode at 11 p.m.” This is interesting to say the least…you’d think that Lost would maintain a steady viewership this far into its lifespan, especially because it’s a highly serialized show. (You can thank the marketing blitz for the recent upsurge.) Anyhow, I’m glad it fared well.
The Lost series finale (I can’t believe I just said that) will air May 23 from 9PM to 11PM. Note the 23rd is a Sunday, not a Tuesday. Though it won’t really matter for Lost fans, the move to Sunday was likely decided so that the finale does not pit itself against part one of American Idol’s season finale. On Sunday there’s virtually no competition. Sunday, May 23 will be LOST DAY. Per usual, a special one hour recap episode will lead into the finale starting at 8PM.
Lastly, on the night of the premiere Lost fanatic Jimmy Kimmel had Darlton (that’s Lost exec producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof) on his show. Jimmy framed his questions looking for “coincidence or fate” answers, and Darlton did their best to answer them appropriately without giving away too many spoilers. Check out the interview in the video below (there are two parts). Also, look after the break for a comedy sketch where Jimmy places himself in the Hurley-Jacob scene from the premiere.
Watch this clip from Jimmy Kimmel Live. Seth Rogen reminisces about that last time he stopped by the show. Old footage is shown revealing a major embarrassment for Rogen ignited by the one and only Megan Fox. To speed up the process, start watching at the 2:43 timestamp. Hilariously humiliating!
