The Junk Dunk

Created by Gabriel Dishaw.  It’s the Nike Dunks from the future!

This piece was a continuation of my previous piece JUNK DUNK (Right) I wanted to attempt this approach again, with a more refined and detailed outcome. I used very little wire and more glue to keep the piece more clean, and less bulky. I also added new details, a hinged tongue and nike logo’s on both the tongue and back of the shoe. On previous models I used a real nike sole to build of off. With this piece I started from scratch and build the sole from circuit boards.

Potential Kid Cudi x Bape t-shirt design?

On September 15 clothes, sneakers, and accessory designer Bape will unveil a new t-shirt in collaboration with Kid Cudi in celebration of his new album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which releases that day.  The image above has been spread throughout the Twitterverse and is the most likely candidate for the t-shirt design.  If you’re interested in getting your hands on one of these exclusive shirts, be prepared to wait on a long line outside the SoHo NYC Bape store on the 15th.

London’s Shard is beautiful

“The Shard, a mixed-use tower at London Bridge in London, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop.”

“Construction work has started on the 306 metre-high building, which will sit on an irregular-shaped site adjacent to London Bridge station as part of a new development called London Bridge Quarter.  The design consists of several glass facets that incline inwards but do not meet at the top, and is inspired by the masts of ships that once anchored on the Thames.  The  72-storey building contains offices, apartments, a hotel and spa, retail and restaurants and is topped by a 15-storey public viewing gallery.”  The Shard is “due to be completed in 2012.”

Check out the gallery below for more images of this architectural marvel.  It is very sci-fi-esque; it reminds me of a structure from the Halo series.

Designed by Russian architects Arch-group and ABTB.

Designed for Moscow United electricity network company, the control room houses a podium with six workstations that face a wall of screens displaying information about the city’s electricity network.  The wall consists of 36 Barco video cubes showing info on the condition of the electricity network.

The Contortionist, a folding bike

The Contortionist was created by Dominic Hargreaves, a 24-year-old student from London.  The idea to make a collapsable bike came easy to him: “I couldn’t find a folding bicycle I liked.  I wanted something that could take a bit of punishment and that you could have fun with.  So I made one myself.”  He is in talks with manufacturers about getting this concept idea onto shelves in the near future.  Check out the video above to see how it works.

Mom surprises kid with 98-inch TV in ceiling!

Patti Deni, world’s coolest mom, decided she wanted to surprise her teenage son by installing a big-screen TV in the ceiling of her kid’s bedroom.  When their new home was being built, Deni contacted company Stereo Advantage with design they had never been asked to complete: instead of having a TV installed on a wall across from a bed, she asked to have the TV built flush against the ceiling of the room!  Stereo Advantage installed a 98-inch StarGlas60 display from Stewart Filmscreen into the ceiling without a hiccup.  According to ElectronicHouse, “In order to support the weight of the display, plus the NEC video projector and the specialty Draper projection mirrors positioned behind it (a total weight of more than 300 pounds), the ceiling had to be reframed and reinforced.”  They also wired the teen’s video games, computer, and cable box to the TV.  Mom, my birthday is coming up soon now, isn’t it?
