Finally, a decent parody of those insanely annoying “I’m a PC and Windows 7 was my idea” commercials. College Humor-approved. Slightly NSFW.

Nike is back with an all new baller commercial for its Sportswear products. Per usual, the production team does not disappoint. The new mantra? “Everybody gets knocked down, how quick are you going to get up?”
I caught this a couple times during NBA All-Star weekend. It’s just so freakin cool.
LeBron James and Dwight Howard star in this remake of the 1993 Super Bowl commercial The Showdown, which featured hall-of-famers Michael Jordan and Larry Bird in trick-shot competition for a Big Mac and fries. Look after the break for the 1993 version.

It is very rare for a commercial to make me laugh as much this one does. It’s subtle, short and sweet, but the comic effect is there and gets me every time. And you’d never guess what company the commerical was made by…oh, it says it in the title, doesn’t it?
Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) just announced his latest project titled I’m Here, a 30-minute short film about robots in love. It premiered January 20 at the Sundance Film Festival. Fast Company has the scoop on the plot: “Set in a gauzy version of L.A., it’s a love story about a boy and a girl–who also happen to be robots made from what looks like cast-off computer parts from 1994. That conceit allows Jonze to create a quirky, alternate world for their romance. In one scene, for example, the boy plugs in the girl for the night–which manages to become a scene of such delicate intimacy that it makes you squirm a little.”
What’s more intriguing is the way Jonze has mingled the short film with Absolut vodka. A number of cut scenes from the short are incorporated into an Absolut commercial. “This isn’t the first time people have created branded content,” says executive producer Mark Figliulio. “But it’s never really been accepted on its own merits. That’s the grey area we’re trying to explore.” Jonze has directed commercials in the past (The Gap, Adidas, and Miller Beer). “Spike respects the medium,” says second exec producer Matt Bijarchi. “He’s one of the few people that see commercials as an art, and his ad work is every bit as discerning as his features.”
So far the short film has been been accepted into the Sundance, Berlin, and Turkey film festivals. If its popularity continues to grow at the festivals and people show interest in the Absolut commercials the film may find a home in a box set and may even play on a yet to be announced cable channel.

This commercial for Nuveen Investments aired during the Super Bowl in 2000. It imagined a future with major advancements in the struggle against AIDS, cancer, and spinal cord injuries. That’s right–the late Christopher Reeve makes a touching appearence when he walks onto the stage. The ad promises “In the future, so many amazing things will happen in the world.” Though it’s interesting to see what an investment firm envisioned for the first decade of the 2000’s, what’s even more impacting is that we still aren’t there yet. Support your charities; we can all lend a helping hand in the fight against deadly diseases and injuries and make the world a better and safer place to live in.

According to this commercial we all need HandJobs, STAT. Only thing is, I’m not sure if by ordering a $5 HandJob I’ll be getting a “revolutionary multi-grip” sponge or..something else.

The latest stop motion TV spot for the Amazon Kindle features up-and-coming artist Annie Little. She stars in the commercial and sings the song “Fly Me Away.” The Fly Me Away EP includes three songs and is available at Amazon to purchase. The song used in the commercial is available for free, so you should definitely pick it up. She’s quite talented and I’m sure this will not be last we see of her.
