‘Arrested Development’ on Netflix: “IT’S ALIVE”

We already know that the short-lived cult comedy Arrested Development is getting revived for a brand new 10-episode season on Netflix in 2013. But after years of speculation, some fans remain skeptical about the truth behind all this. Let this breaking news quell your fears and further ramp up anticipation. Renowned filmmaker and series executive producer Ron Howard took to Twitter to confirm that the ball has indeed started to roll on this thing.

First Howard tweeted, “Arrested Development for Netflix. IT’S ALIVE. This is what the writer’s room looks like.” Attached was a picture of conference room with tons of colored index cards clinged to walls with indecipherable episode ideas scribbled on them. (See the image of the the break.) A couple hours later Howard took another picture and tweeted, “Mitch [Hurwitz] let Jason [Bateman] and I in on some of the twists and turns ahead. hilarious.” This one features Howard, AD creator Mitch Hurwitz, and star Jason Bateman. (The image is embedded above.)

And to top things off, Bateman also jumped onto his Twitter account to share this exciting bit of news: “Taken at AD mission control, today! All systems are go. Filming for the new episodes starts in four weeks. Woo!” Another picture was attached, this one also starring Howard, Bateman, and Hurwitz in mid-laughter. (See the image of the the break.)

So yeah, Arrested Development is coming people. There’s no denying it, so detractors keep silent. IT’S ALIVE. Wink. Continue reading ‘Arrested Development’ on Netflix: “IT’S ALIVE”

‘FRINGE’ Comic Con poster confirms the Observers are coming

(Spoiler alert) At the very end of Fringe season four, our favorite Observer September delivered grave, unexplained news to Walter Bishop: “they are coming” he whispered before the screen went black. Well fellow Fringe fans, a shiny poster surfaced today featuring that mysterious, tantalizing bit of dialogue, as well as three bald-headed sharp-dressed men carrying black briefcases. It confirms what we all expected: season five will shed major light on the Observer-ruled world we glimpsed in episode 19 “Letters of Transit.”

The poster you see above will be the one fans will takeaway from the final Fringe panel at Comic Con later this month. Newly lone showrunner J.H. Wyman spoke to EW about the affair. “The Comic Con panel is something I always look forward to, but this year it’s bittersweet,” he said. “I think we have lots of good stuff in store for them.” The panel will be held inside the massive Hall H on Sunday, July 15 at 10AM. Series stars Anna Torv, Josh Jackson, Lance Reddick, Blair Brown, Jasika Nicole, and John Noble will join Wyman on a panel that will serve as a Q&A for fans and also include “an exclusive video presentation.”

Fringe begins its fifth and final 13-episode season on September 28 on FOX. The season premiere is called “Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11.” Yeah.

First look: Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Iron Man 3’

Here is the first still from the set of Iron Man 3. The Marvel movie broke ground on June 4 in Wilmington, North Carolina and the production schedule plans to bring the cast and crew to far out places like Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, Miami, Florida, and China. Robert Downey Jr. returns as the armored superhero (see his back to us above). Also confirmed to appear in the movie are Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. Favreau, while still remaining an executive producer, is not directing the third installment; Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) has taken over the reins.

First look: ‘The Walking Dead’ season 3

The first thing Walking Dead fans are used to seeing before the start of a new season is a graphic production still of Greg Nicotero’s spectacular zombies. This time around, however, we get a two-and-a-half minute clip! Though it’s not all that revealing in terms of plot, some things are said that are worth mulling over here. As we know, Michonne and The Governor will be introduced in season 3, and the action will take place at a fortified prison. Lauren Cohan (who plays Maggie) says, “From the beginning of this you see completely changed characters.” Laurie Holden (Andrea) teases, “We have the introduction of new characters, some that have been announced, some that have not.” Norman Reedus (Daryl) says that in season 3 “People start losing their minds, love blossoms, and a whole lot of awesome zombie kills [will take place].” Andrew Lincoln (Rick) sums it all up nicely: “The pace of it is darker, harder, faster, deeper.”

From the farm to the prison, The Walking Dead returns this fall on AMC. Bonus! Jump after the break to get a first look at Danai Gurira as the katana sword-wielding Michonne. Continue reading First look: ‘The Walking Dead’ season 3

Movie poster: ‘Anchorman 2’ (video teaser inside)

We already know it’s official. But now it’s official official. Director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell are hard at work on the sequel to the 2004 cult comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. If this shiny poster says anything, its that the boys of the Channel 4 news team are back in action; that is, Ron (Ferrel), Champ (David Koechner), Brian (Paul Rudd), and Brick (Steve Carrell). Whether or not the film’s actual title is Anchorman: The Legend Continues is still debatable but seems likely.

In an interview with EW, McKay spilled the deets surrounding the secretive teaser trailer he and the stars recently cooked up. Producing the clip “was like the Manhattan Project–except without the possibility of destroying all of mankind, said McKay. He continued, “Paramount came to us with the idea of the teaser, and since we’re writing the script, it was a good chance to see the characters and hang out with the actors to inspire writing. All of the actors slipped right into character and they all looked amazing. Paul has a beard and we’re thinking of keeping it. Kind of an Eddie Rabbit-meets-Serpico look.” Unfortunately for viewers the super-teaser does not reveal an ounce of plot detail. “Nothing’s set,” McKay added. “Right now I can say for sure there is no Ghost Rider cameo or a scene where Ron fights a wolverine on a nose-diving helicopter. We’re either going to shoot the movie in 3-D or 1/2 D.”

The teaser hasn’t hit the web officially yet, but you can hop after the break to watch a shaky, shot-in-the-theatre version if you can’t wait any longer. It’s playing today in front of The Dictator, FYI. More as this story develops, San Diegites. Continue reading Movie poster: ‘Anchorman 2’ (video teaser inside)
