FoD: Don Cheadle is Captain Planet

This video featuring Don Cheadle as Captain Planet quickly went viral and after hitting play you’ll no longer wonder why. What starts out as a pleasant message for kids telling them to combat pollution by preserving trees suddenly morphs into a full-scale killing spree. One of the Planeteers doesn’t make it. Yeah, it gets that dark.

How you should react to Adam Sandler’s new flick:

Comedy legend Adam Sandler’s got a new movie coming out called Jack and Jill and in it he plays both the male and female protagonists. I have to say that I am a big fan of almost all of Sandler’s work, but this just looks like a load of crap. I think I’d rather watch the faux flick Re-Do that was featured in Funny People (remember it’s the one where Sandler’s head is CGIed onto a baby’s body). Join George C. Scott (as General Patton in Patton) in the video above as he tries his darndest to make it through a viewing of the horrendous trailer.

TV Reminder: ‘Party Down’ cast reunites tonight on ‘Childrens Hospital’ [Update: clip inside]

So get this. Tonight on Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital the Party Down catering service will reunite! Just because the insanely underrated, ill-fated Starz comedy Party Down was cancelled after a two-season run in 2010, that doesn’t mean the gang can’t get back together again. If you watch the irreverent comedy from Rob Corddry then you should know that the show stars two Party Down members–Ken Marino and Megan Mullally. In tonight’s episode Ron Donald and Lydia Dunfree will be joined by fellow caterers Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, and Ryan Hansen. Unfortunately, pending any surprises, Adam Scott and Jane Lynch will not be on hand for the scene. Dr. Glenn Richie (Marino) is celebrating his Bar Mizvah and the Party Down crew show up to cater it.

In an interview with EW, Marino shared his initial excitement on shooting day. “I couldn’t believe all the Party Down actors showed up!” he said. “I love the guy who plays Ron. He came in. He was kind of a d—, actually, in real life.” Funny man! He continued, “We had so much fun doing that little scene. And then we were like, goddammit, why is this show not happening anymore?” He went on to describe his hair dilemma. “We had to try to fake my Ron Donald haircut because I had my Glenn Richie haircut,” he said. “It was too long and looked a little ridiculous.”

Childrens Hospital airs Thursday nights at midnight on Adult Swim.

Update: In case you missed it or want to watch it again, jump after the break for the 35-second Party Down cameo. They ended up sticking it all the way at the end between the credits. But boy was it sweet. Continue reading TV Reminder: ‘Party Down’ cast reunites tonight on ‘Childrens Hospital’ [Update: clip inside]

Watch this never-before-seen ‘Lost’ deleted scene

At Comic Con, Lost showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse crashed EW’s Totally Lost: One Year Later panel and brought with them a never-before-seen clip, an alternate ending to the pivotal season one finale. Lindelof and Cuse ultimately decided against keeping this scene in the finale “for fear that it revealed too much about how the series would eventually end.” Watch it, and decide for yourself whether or not it was wise to remove it.

Psht, and people thought they were making it all up as they were going along!

Conan gets animated in faux trailer for ‘The Flaming C’

From the creators of Batman: The Animated Series and the Masturbating Bear comes THE FLAMING C, Conan O’Brien’s superhero alter ego! At Comic Con, Conan crashed the Warner Bros. panel for Green Lantern: The Animated Series to reveal his new trailer for The Flaming C, a movie that is coming to a theatre near you “sometime…maybe.” If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year (or if you’re just not an avid Conan viewer), hop after the break to watch the origin story behind red-haired, oven mitted superhero. In December Conan visited the home of DC Comics and animator Bruce Timm brought to life Conan’s vision of his very own superhero. Like everything Conan does, it’s a riot! Apple outs new Time Capsule, Final Cut Pro X [Update: Conan slams it (video)]

At long last Apple’s Time Capsule gets a refresh. The sleek device that serves as a wireless base station and a backup hard drive comes in two sizes: 2TB and 3TB. The 1TB model has been discontinued. But now you get more bang for your buck! While the local storage increases, prices remain the same: $299.99 for the 2TB model and $499.99 for the 3TB model. Besides the bump in storage, Apple claims that “new technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine make backing up to Time Capsule using Snow Leopard up to 75 per cent faster than before.” Get yours at Apple’s online store today.

In related Apple news, the company has let loose its totally revamped version of Final Cut Pro. The video editing software is built on 64-bit architecture and boasts a completely redesigned UI which includes a Magnetic Timeline, Content Auto-Analysis, and and background rendering. Weird Al parodies Lady Gaga in “Perform This Way” video

“I’m sure my critics will say it’s a grotesque display/Well, they can bite me, baby — I perform this way/ I might be wearin’ Swiss cheese or maybe covered with bees/It doesn’t mean I’m crazy — I perform this way.”

Weird Al Yankovic is back and this time he’s taking on pop queen Lady Gaga. From the intelligently goofy lyrics (see above) to the strange and bizarre direction of the music video everything here is pure win. I can’t wait to see what else the master of parody comes up with next; we can expect more content coming soon since his thirteenth studio album Alpocalyse drops tomorrow.

Watch Conan O’Brien deliver Dartmouth’s commencement address

Yesterday morning late night talk show host Conan O’Brien delivered the main address at Dartmouth College’s 2011 commencement exercises. The 25 minute speech is chock full of jokes, but it’s the latter half that really hits home for the students. Conan’s transition from NBC to cable TV proved to be an enlightening experience for the comedian, and so he was able to share valuable advice with the graduating class. A couple choice quotes:

“It is our failure to become our perceived ideal that ultimately defines us and makes us unique. It’s not easy, but if you accept your misfortune and handle it right, your perceived failure can become a catalyst for profound reinvention.”

“Whether you fear it or not, disappointment will come. The beauty is that through disappointment you can gain clarity and with clarity comes conviction and true originality.”
