It’s another Orphan Black tantalizing teaser! There’s blood and test tubes and DNA strands galore!
“I’m part of a sisterhood like no other. A piece of a puzzle I can barely comprehend. My life is someone else’s experiment,” says star Tatiana Maslany. “My name is Alison Hendrix, is Cosima Niehaus, is Rachel Duncan, Sarah Manning–and I’m one of a kind.”
Boom. Orphan Black returns for its highly anticipated second season April 19 on BBC America.
In October at PaleyFest Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced that the musical dramedy’s sixth season will be its last. He admitted his idea about how the show would end and it involved Lea Michele’s Rachel character and the late Cory Monteith’s Finn.
“I always knew how it would end,” Murphy told the press. “I knew what the last shot was–he [Monteith] was in it. I knew what the last line was–she [Michele] said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”
On Monday Entertainment Weekly shed light on exactly what Murphy had in mind for the show’s ending with a “Late Great” essay penned by Murphy himself.
The ending of Glee is something I have never shared with anyone, but I always knew it. I’ve always relied on it as a source of comfort, a North Star. At the end of season 6, Lea [Michele]‘s Rachel was going to have become a big Broadway star, the role she was born to play. Finn was going to have become a teacher, settled down happily in Ohio, at peace with his choice and no longer feeling like a Lima loser. The very last line of dialogue was to be this: Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn’s glee club. “What are you doing here?” he would ask. “I’m home,” she would reply. Fade out. The end.
Sound familiar? That’s because the blanks had already been filled during the Finn tribute episode; in “The Quarterback” Rachel has an exchange with Mr. Schue where she imagines her future with Finn and it’s pretty much what Murphy had planned to do if Monteith hadn’t passed so suddenly.
So how will Glee end now? That’s still being kept under wraps, but at PaleyFest Murphy said, “I’m going to tell the studio and the network how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”
As season 5 looms on the horizon, NBC has pushed out an animated bit featuring the stars of Community. In “Miracle on Jeff’s Street,” Jeff Winger (voiced by star Joel McHale) gets ambushed by his Greendale friends including the Dean, Chang, and his study group made up of Britta, Shirley, Annie, Troy, and Abed. It’s a fun and funny clip as Annie mocks the Peacock’s decision to air Community so late in the season resulting in an Olympics scheduling fiasco.

On Thursday the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the latest crop of Golden Globe nominees. The award show that celebrates the best in film and TV handed out the most nominations to movies 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle (they received 7 nods each) and series Breaking Bad and HBO movie Behind the Candelabra earned 7 nods in total.
12 Years A Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena, and Rush are in the running for Best Motion Picture Drama. American Hustle, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, and The Wolf Of Wall Street are competing for Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The movies vying for Best Animated Feature Film are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, and Frozen.
In TV, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, House of Cards, and Masters of Sex have all been nominated for Best Drama Series. The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Girls, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation are hoping to be named Best Comedy Series.
Personally, I’m excited about all the actors and actresses nominated in the TV categories. Dramatic actors like Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), and even The Blacklist‘s James Spader are all up for Best Actor. And in the Best Actress category you’ve got Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany pitted against Kerry Washington (Scandal), Robin Wright (House of Cards), and Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black). Good stuff! And the good times keep on rolling in the comedy side. Jason Bateman and Andy Samberg have been nominated for their roles in Arrested Development and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, respectively, and Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Amy Poehler (Parks and Rec), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) are recognized for their great work as well. In the supporting sections Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Corey Stoll (House of Cards), and Monica Potter (Parenthood) got nods, too. All in all, the HFPA did good selecting this year’s TV nominees.
That said, there will always the ones that got snubbed: The Walking Dead, Bates Motel, The Americans, Homeland, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, The Newsroom, Hannibal, Hello Ladies. And with all the wonderfully talented actors starring in those series, the list goes on and on.

“The road to power is paved with hypocrisy and casualties,” slithers Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood in this first-look trailer of House of Cards season 2. The butchery begins February 14 when 13 new episodes of the political thriller release on Netflix.
Community returns for its fourth season with creator Dan Harmon back at the helm on January 2. Here is one dark, hilariously explosive trailer for said season. The study group is back in full form, though Donald Glover’s character Troy acknowledges his early-in-the-season departure with a playful Scrubs joke. Chevy Chase might be out as Pierce Hawthorne but John Oliver’s Ian Duncan and Dino Stamatopoulos rises from the ashes to reprise fan-favorite Star-Burns. Notable guest stars include Breaking Bad‘s Jonathan Banks and Justified‘s Walton Goggins. Watch the absurdity unfold in the 2 1/2 minute trailer above; fans will surely love how it milks the whole “six seasons and a movie” movement for all its worth!

Quick update on Netflix’s Daredevil: Drew Goddard (director of Cabin in the Woods; Cloverfield, World War Z, Buffy, Angel, Alias, Lost writer) has signed on to write and direct the first episode of the Netflix/Marvel live-action original series. He will also serve as series showrunner and executive producer across all 13 episodes that are set to debut on the streaming service in 2015.
Daredevil is one of four Marvel superhero series coming to Netflix (Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage are also on the way) and they will all culminate in an Avengers-style mini-series event dubbed The Defenders. Picking up Goddard is a great way to start this massive project; the writer/director/producer is widely accepted by fanboys and girls for his work on Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams classics.

Sherlock fans, here is your first major look into series 3. The minute long trailer opens with Martin Freeman’s John Watson defiantly asking Benedict Cumberbatch’s Holmes about his faked suicide fall from last season. “I don’t care how you faked it; I want to know why,” he says. There’s mystery, there’s intrigue, there’s humor–it’s one great tease. #SherlockLives January 19 on PBS Masterpiece.
Orphan Black returns April 19 on BBC America, and here’s your first look at the upcoming second season. Tatiana Maslany takes on Tatiana Maslany (what else is new?) in the shoes of series protagonist Sarah Manning and pro-clone Neolutionist Rachel Duncan. Seems like we’ll be picking up right where we left off.
In an interview with EW, creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson spill on season 2. “No one is just who they seem on Orphan Black. That’s the most important thing. Maybe things get set up as kind of a cliché or as one thing, but we’re always trying to bend it and find the layers to keep it fresh and original,” says Manson. “Even as a villain, Rachel is going to hold a lot of surprises for us. She’s been a really fun nemesis for Sarah,” adds Fawcett.
In addition to watching Sarah take on Rachel, season 2 will also explore Cosima’s mysterious illness. “It’s a genetic mystery. It’s a genetic biological mystery and it feeds into some of our body horror and it feeds into our science mystery,” says Manson.

Netflix’s Emmy award-winning series House of Cards returns for its second season on February 14. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright return as the politically power-hungry Francis and Claire Underwood.
