Music videos: John Legend serenades his wife in piano ballad “All of Me”; Britney Spears is back in EDM-inspired “Work Bitch”

At the end of August soul singer-songwriter John Legend dropped his fourth studio album Love in the Future and here’s a music video for the third single off that record. In “All of Me” Legend sings to his new wife, model Chrissy Teigen; they were married in Italy last month. The beautiful, subtle direction by Nabil complements the piano heavy tune; Legend sings, “Cuz all of me loves all of you; love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections.” The GOOD Music artist is a pure talent; watch his latest in the black-and-white clip embedded above.

Kanye West crashes ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ to perform “Bound 2”

The late night host tweeted that earlier tonight and now you can watch the surprise performance right here! “Bound 2,” the final track on Ye’s Yeezus, is one of the album’s best; this live performance elevates the song exponentially as The Roots, a chorus of kids, and the incredible Charlie Wilson give it their all. Wilson, IMHO, steals the show here. Enjoy.

Music Video Monday: Katy Perry, Eminem & Coldplay release their latest

Three music videos for you this week!

Kitty Purry Katy Perry stars in the video for her mega-hit single “Roar.” In this quite literal interpretation of the song, Perry transforms into queen of the jungle after surviving a plane crash. You can tell she had loads of fun putting this all together. It’s very cartoonish in nature–from her overreaction to a spider crawling up her arm to actual animated sequences–and if you’re a fan of the catchy track it’s pretty much guaranteed this vid will thoroughly entertain you. This lead single is off Perry’s upcoming album Prism due out October 21.

Two more clips after the break! Continue reading Music Video Monday: Katy Perry, Eminem & Coldplay release their latest

Watch the latest & greatest viral sensation right here, RIGHT NOW!

Feast your eyes and ears on this truly bizarre and admittedly catchy…well, I’m not sure what to call it. It gets more ridiculous as it goes on, but in the best way possible. There’s just no way to properly hype what you are about to watch–words simply cannot do it much justice. So mash play and ask yourself, WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? Side effects of that question are extreme confusion and plentiful laughter to the point of tears. This is quite possibly the greatest thing to come out of the Internet. Like ever.

When you’re finished, download the MP3 here. You’re welcome.

In case you’re wondering, the EDM-inspired song and accompanying music video “The Fox” was imagined by Norwegian brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker. Together they are known as Ylvis and the musically-inclined comedic duo concocted this stroke of genius to promote their talk show that airs in Norway.

Jay Z’s “Holy Grail” gets new lease on life in bold new music video

Here we have the music video for “Holy Grail,” the Justin Timberlake assisted track that gracefully eases listeners into Jay Z’s recent release Magna Carta… Holy Grail. Director Anthony Mandler was clearly given creative freedom during the construction of this visual spectacle. The track is heavily remixed here with verses out of order (Jay spits his rhymes before JT’s hook rings, for example) and certain parts are slowed down significantly. It’s hard to say if this version is better than the original creation, but there’s no denying that this newly polished version works. It’s like listening to the song again for the first time, and in my opinion, that’s an interesting experience.

Watch Jay rap in a ghoulish mansion and JT croon amongst the flames in the clip embedded above. In a sharp move, Hova teamed with Facebook to exclusively launch the “Holy Grail” music on the social network.

Eminem drops lead single off ‘MMLP2’

Slim Shady is BACK. After teasing fans with “Survival,” Eminem dropped the true lead single off his eighth studio album “Berzerk.” The Beastie Boys-esque track produced by Rick Rubin hits hard and quickly reminds you just how great a rapper Em really is. The most exciting bit to come out of all this: tracks “Berzerk” and “Survival” are part of MMLP2. Do you need me to spell this out for you? Shady’s next record is a sequel to his instant-classic third album The Marshall Mathers LP; that 2000 release featured hit songs like “The Real Slim Shady,” “The Way I Am,” and “Stan.” Simply by naming his upcoming album what he did raises the stakes and the anticipation tenfold. And if “Berzerk” is any indication of what’s in store, I think fans will be plenty comfortable with the new material. And yes, there’s a street date: MMLP2 drops November 5.

Listen to “Berzerk” above and download a copy via iTunes. If this track preview video is any indication, an accompanying music video is imminent.

2013 MTV VMAs: Justin Timberlake scores

From Miley’s twerk works to Bruno Mars’ pipes, this year’s MTV Video Music Awards had a little something for everybody. But there’s no arguing that the night belonged to the Video Vanguard Award recipient Justin Timberlake. Before accepting the award from a jubilant Jimmy Fallon, JT wowed the crowd and viewers tuning in with a never-ending medley of his greatest hits including a blink-and-you-missed-it NSYNC reunion. The artist proved that he’s a true performer in every sense of the word. And if that wasn’t enough, Timberlake also went home with the most limited edition KAWS Moonmen ; his hit single “Mirrors” won Best Editing and was crowned Video of the Year. “Suit & Tie,” helmed by filmmaker David Fincher, won Best Direction. Add in the golden Vanguard statue and the count lands at four. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who also made new fans that night with a great rendition of their track “Same Love,” came in a close second racking up three trophies.

Lady Gaga showers in your “Applause” in the single’s new music video

Lady Gaga’s music video for her new single “Applause” is here and get this–it makes the track better. Sure, the song is catchy enough upon first listen, but add in Gaga’s dazzling visuals (that bra made of faux-hands are pretty cool!) and weird metaphors (Gaga’s head on a swan’s body means what now?) and you’ve got a music video that’s hard to turn away from. Check it out in the clip embedded above.

Sign spinning elevates to new level with street dance in “Daft Signz”

Every wednesday at a suburban Los Angeles park in North Hollywood, a group of talented individuals come together to create a form of self-expression you may have never experienced before: a mind-blowing synthesis of sign spinning and street dance.

“Daft Signz,” directed by Nicolas Randall and Joe Stevens and starring extraordinary sign spinners Erik Argote, Kadeem Johnson, Justin Brown, and Ray Rivera, celebrates this California-born phenomenon.

Go on, lose yourself to dance. You’ll never look upon those sign spinners standing outside Cash for Gold the same again.

Katy Perry & Lady Gaga face off in battle of the new singles; Eminem reenters the game, too

This week pop divas Katy Perry and Lady Gaga and famed rapper Eminem released new music for the first time in a long time.

Perry’s “Roar,” embedded above, is the lead single off her upcoming fourth studio album Prism due out October 22. Her last album Teenage Dream, which featured numerous radio hits like “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” “Last Friday Night,” and “The One That Got Away,” released nearly three years ago.

Gaga’s followup to 2011’s Born This Way (which included popular tracks like “Born This Way,” “Judas,” “The Edge of Glory,” “You and I,” and “Marry The Night”) is ARTPOP due out November 11. “Applause” is the first single off her new record and its lyric video is posted after the break.

Both “Roar” and “Applause” are worthy lead singles that will inevitably climb the charts. Though there’s some controversy surrounding Katy’s new tune (listeners quickly picked up that the back track sounds eerily similar to the one used in Sara Bareilles’ “Brave”), it does distance itself away from that other equally catchy and uplifting song enough that both can coexist and be enjoyed. (SoundCloud user MixmstrStel remixed the two songs together to grand effect.) Gaga’s “Applause,” in my opinion, is the weaker of the two singles and yet it still manages to make me anticipate her long-awaited new material.

Lastly, rap legend Eminem is back for another encore. Details are still being kept under wraps regarding Shady’s eighth album and followup to 2010’s Recovery; but fans can get a taste of what’s to come in Em’s new track “Survival.” The song promotes the next Call of Duty game Ghosts and it appears the game’s soundtrack. “Survival” will be part of the new record, but Eminem’s camp says fans can expect the rapper to drop the album’s true lead single soon. Listen to Eminem’s latest after the break. Continue reading Katy Perry & Lady Gaga face off in battle of the new singles; Eminem reenters the game, too
