New music: Kid Cudi – “Dennis, Hook Me Up With Some More Of That Whiskey!”

Yep, that’s the name of Kid Cudi’s latest track that leaked onto the ‘Net today. Though Cudi recently went on a Twitter rant saying he’s done with raps so he can focus solely on his newfound fascination for rocking out WZRD-style, all of that has been thrown out the window when he dropped “Dennis, Hook Me Up With Some More Of That Whiskey!” just before midnight on Complex. Cudder jumped on Twitter to hype the release of the surprise track and claimed producer credit. “Ok so what I did was, I took “Ghost” [a Man on the Moon track], reversed it, [and] added new drums and guitar,” he tweeted.

Yesterday Cudi tweeted, “you aint heard nothing yet” … “So many amazing things to come” … “Ahh sh*t, found my old lap top with a gang of unfinished songs from MOTM1 and MOTM2. And so it begins….” … So many fuc*ing jams. Don’t worry. Ima make sure y’all here this stuff soon. trust. believe bruv!” So is “Dennis” the first of many, many new tracks Cudi the Rapper plans on releasing into the wild as we await his next studio album? Ponder that, then listen to and download “Dennis” below.

Coming off his recent WZRD release, now alt-rocker Kid Cudi has put out a new track that’s featured on the soundtrack for the movie The Hunger Games. Collaborating on a movie soundtrack isn’t new for Cudi; over the summer he teamed with director Craig Gillespie to produce a song for the Colin Ferrel vampire flick Fright Night. Unreleased track: Kid Cudi – “Dose of Dopeness” (Produced by Dot Da Genius)

Kid Cudi fans, here it is, at long last, the mastered version of “Dose of Dopeness.” Fans of Cudder have been waiting four years for this track to release, ever since he performed it at an intimate session that got posted to YouTube way back in 2008. The Dot Da Genius-produced banger carries a vibe similar to J-Kwon’s “Tipsy”, but obviously it does enough to distance itself from anything you’ve heard before. This is classic Cudder; in fact it was originally invented in ’08 when Cudi was about to blow up with another Genius-produced song “Day ‘N’ Night.” The beat is fire and the raps have an introductory swagger. In “Dopeness” Cudi talks, “Some people call me Cudi, some people call me Scott; it don’t matter what you want to call me as long as you call me something.” And at the very end he even teases the name of his debut album: “Where are we going? The moon.” Listen to and download the stellar track below. Cop the official album artwork (designed by Dat New Cudi’s DP) above.

You can expect to hear a whole lot more from Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius soon. Their collab album WZRD drops February 28.

Karmin releases new single “Brokenhearted” ahead of ‘SNL’ debut

You’re gonna be hearing them on the radio before you know it, so you might as well get to know Karmin ahead of time. You should already know who they are; vocalist Amy and keyboardist Nick–collectively Karmin–are the ones who made it big through YouTube by posting infectious cover tracks including a selection from Chris Brown’s catalog. After going viral they signed with Epic Records and in October they released their first single off their debut album. “Crash Your Party” is on its way to one million hits. Next week, they will be performing on SNL and to prepare for it they’ve release another new single to get the people buzzing. It’s called “Brokenhearted” and it sounds like Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj had a baby…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Regardless of how you might think something like this will resonate with you, take a listen above and prepare for Karmin to dominate the radio waves in the coming months. Their debut album is set to release later this year.

Jay-Z welcomes his newborn Blue Ivy Carter in emotional track “Glory”

On January 7 Beyoncé gave birth to her first child with husband Jay-Z, Blue Ivy Carter. Two days later, the rapper released a song featuring their newborn credited as “B.I.C.” Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. lent a helping hand, too. In “Glory” Jay celebrates his new baby girl: “The most amazing feeling I feel, words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real / Maybe I paint the sky blue / My greatest creation was you.” At one point Jay reveals that Beyoncé suffered a miscarriage in the past, but he manages not to linger on that topic and finishes strong with audible cries emitting from baby Blue. Listen to the beautiful track above and head over to Jay’s blog Life+Times to read the official announcement of BIC’s birth. He must’ve been in an empire state of mind when he cobbled together that blog post; the song is tagged with NYC’s landmark lit up blue.

Single: W Z R D – “Brake”

The former lonely stoner just couldn’t wait any longer. After teasing the album’s January 30, 2012 release date on Saturday, Kid Cudi jumped back on Twitter to share with the world the first official cut off his upcoming third, yet-to-be-titled studio album. The track is called “Brake” and it’s produced by Wizard-in-crime Dot Da Genius and features guitar strings flicked by Cudder himself. Much like his previous release “Perfect Is The Word,” this song doesn’t find Cudi rapping but instead crooning over a punk rock-ish beat. Prior to dropping the single Cudi tweeted, “Tonight, you will all witness the new chapter, the new journey. Music will never be the same…” Listen to “Brake” below, follow along by reading the simple lyrics provided by Cudi, and click the download link for keeps. Are you entranced by Kid Cudi’s new sound? Lost single: Kid Cudi – “Bigger Than You” (produced by Emile)

Here’s a nice treat for all you Cudder fans. Today Complex released a mastered version of the very first track Kid Cudi and longtime producer/collaborator Emile ever made together. The song is called “Bigger Than You” and it was meant to serve as the lead single off Cudi’s debut album Man on the Moon: End of Day. Since it was created so early on in 2007 (and the fact that it leaked under the false title “Do It Alone”), Cudi and Emile ultimately decided to scrap it and not include it on the album. The Dot Da Genius produced track “Day N’ Nite,” as we all know, would go on to become Cudi’s first hit record. In a 2009 interview with Complex, Emile shed some light on the making of the lost single today reborn:

He had in his head what he wanted to start the album with. Like way back it was a song called “Bigger Than You,” which some people might of heard because it leaked. It was a really dope record. “Bigger Than You” was actually the first record me and Cudi ever did together. It was on the first day that we met, we cut that song. Once we cut it, he was like, “That’s the intro to my album.” It stayed that way for a while, but that record was cut a long time before the album was ever done, so eventually it kinda faded out.

Listen to it below; a download link is provided. Two words: classic Cudi.

Cudi opens “Focused” and returns throughout on chorus duty. The track has a good vibe, so take a listen below and download it for keeps if you like. Jason Mraz releases new track “The World As I See It”

It’s been a long while since Mr. A to Z released new music. Since dropping his third studio album We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. in 2008, Mraz has been touring the world and managed to slip in the five-track Life Is Good EP in 2010. Though the new track is not an official single off his next album (which is expected to release in early 2012), it should still excite you because it’s a never-heard-before song from the acoustic-loving crooner. “The World As I See It” serves as the theme for the “In Search of Incredible” campaign headed by Mraz and tech companies Asus and Intel. The project “seek[s] the most amazing stories from around the world” and you can find out more about it at this website.
