Three music videos for you this week!
Kitty Purry Katy Perry stars in the video for her mega-hit single “Roar.” In this quite literal interpretation of the song, Perry transforms into queen of the jungle after surviving a plane crash. You can tell she had loads of fun putting this all together. It’s very cartoonish in nature–from her overreaction to a spider crawling up her arm to actual animated sequences–and if you’re a fan of the catchy track it’s pretty much guaranteed this vid will thoroughly entertain you. This lead single is off Perry’s upcoming album Prism due out October 21.
Two more clips after the break!
Eminem teams up with producer Rick Rubin, rapper Kendrick Lamar, Kid Rock, and Slaughterhouse in his VHS-inspired music video for his new single “Berzerk.” The song samples Billy Squier’s “The Stroke” and the video features sequences from Squier’s performance of it. The famous rewind effect is utilized often here, balanced out by the appearance of one giant boom box. Watch the craziness ensue above. Eminem’s MMLP2 drops November 5.
Technically speaking, this is not a music video but a lyric video for a new song from Coldplay inspired by the upcoming movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It’s a dreamy, relatively soft track that is very reminiscent of early Coldplay circa Parachutes & A Rush of Blood to the Head. It will be featured on the movie’s soundtrack this November, and you can download it standalone today via iTunes.
