HER is set in Los Angeles, in the near future and follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive and unique entity in its own right. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet “Samantha,” a bright, female voice (Scarlett Johansson), who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other. HER is an original love story that explores the evolving nature—and the risks—of intimacy in the modern world.
Spike Jonze, who is no stranger to android romance, directs. A melancholic tone permeates the trailer and yet it is spiritually uplifting in nature. A man falls for artificial intelligence; might he learn a thing or two about true love along the way? Her releases November 20.

The Muppets are back in Muppets Most Wanted (formally known as The Muppets …Again!). Jason Segal and Amy Adams, stars of the 2011 hit The Muppets, are out and Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, and Ty Burrell are in. Just in case you need reminding, here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.
Check out the film’s first teaser trailer above; celebrity cameos range from P. Diddy to Salma Hayek with many surprise guests in the works I’m sure. Flight of the Conchords‘ James Bobin is back in the director’s chair and one-half of that folk parody duo Bret McKenzie is penning original songs again. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal and the gang return to the big screen March 21, 2014.
And here we go they’ve nailed it: Joshua Michael Stern’s take on the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs gets a trailer worth buzzing about. Ashton Kutcher is Steve in Jobs and Josh Gad plays Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. “The film tells the epic and turbulent story of Jobs as he blazed a trail that changed technology — and the world — forever,” reads a logline. This clip manages to express a level of curiosity and, well, fun that should get people talking. Jobs’ life certainty is worth celebrating and this film will attempt to tell his story of major ups and downs when it hits theatres August 16.
Thor teams up with his villainous brother Loki in the Thor sequel subtitled The Dark World. This second trailer is even more expansive than the first with more Loki and a better look at Malekith the Accursed’s dark elf army. Out November 8.
Captain Phillips tells the real-life story of Captain Richard Phillips (played by Tom Hanks here) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. The intense Paul Greengrass-directed flick lands October 11.
