Ready to be freaked out again? Paranormal Activity 2 is almost here. The image that’s depicted in the poster above should be familiar to you. It’s a still frame from the original trailer featuring a dog and a mysterious baby whose reflection is not visible in the mirror. Jump after the break to find a breakdown of the hidden footage embedded inside the new trailer.
Let’s start with what we know. In the original (and new) trailer we see multiple security camera shots, a baby (who has a reflection in the mirror when he’s absent in the real-world crib), a whimpering dog, and a silhouette of a woman (who might certainly be Katie, the protagonist from the first film).
Now let’s move onto the creepy new footage. About halfway through the trailer (right when you see the kitchen), use your mouse to slide the progress bar back a few seconds until the trailer takes over. The video begins the shift around the screen and hidden footage is revealed. The first still (see above) shows a woman (again, Katie?) with her hands up in the air and one foot lifted from the ground (as if she’s a marionette) with a baby crawling on the ground nearby.
Next a series of images flash by, this one being the most clear. It features a crying baby, another young child, and a woman with noticably green nail polish on her right thumb.
The final image is nearly identical to the first; it features the crawling baby with the woman cropped out. After we see this image the video reverts back to the “standard” trailer.
At the very end of the trailer there is an audio easter egg. A very deep voice says something that is barely audible. If I had to make an educated guess I think it’s says “Hunter.” If you can remember back to the original trailer, there’s a message scribbled on the bedroom carpet in mirror-land that reads, “what’s happening to Hunter?”. I think it’s safe to say that Hunter is the baby in the crib and featured in all the hidden footage and that he will play an integral part in the sequel.
Want more? If you keep your mouse hovered on the page after the trailer ends, the still image of the bedroom begins to zoom in on itself slowly. After some time the image fades and this picture takes over the left side of the page:
Can you make out the woman holding the baby, with something possibly lurking in the background?
Well this was fun, wasn’t it? Paranormal Activity 2 hits theatres October 22. Go on, demand it!
